INGECID was awarded a minor contract with the Directorate General of Roads under the Ministry of Transport, Mobility, and Urban Agenda (MITMA). The contract involved providing preliminary consulting to define the approach to a Classification System for elements of the State Road Network.
As a result, an open proposal was developed to guide the advancement of key concepts for the new Road Classification System, covering the entire lifecycle of the sector (Design, Construction, Maintenance, and Operation).
The work carried out by INGECID addresses the need to define a classification system that unifies and standardizes the information required for the effective management of the State Road Network. The proposal was developed based on an analysis of regulations, documents, and data classification systems, as well as a review of the most relevant classification systems in the existing applications used by the Directorate General of Roads for managing State Road Network assets.
This initial classification system approach serves as a starting point for achieving centralization and standardization in road sector information management, aiming to reduce asset management time while ensuring traceability of all information throughout the project lifecycle.
Finally, the consulting work outlined potential future actions to continue the first iteration of analysis and to define the approach for the future development of the Road Classification System.
