Plataforma VIRCORE

INGECID has been awarded the ambitious project to digitize health centers in Cantabria, a strategic initiative that aims to centralize, structure, and optimize the management of technical and asset information for these healthcare facilities using BIM technology and advanced collaborative environments. The first step in the project is the implementation of the Common Data Environment (CDE), which will be developed using the platform VIRCORE platform. This tool will enable the establishment of a digital collaborative environment, specifically adapted to the hospital sector, thanks to its niche modules and functionalities. In addition, it offers operation and maintenance capabilities that may be key in future phases of the project.

BIM digitization adapted to real use

One of the central pillars of the project will be the BIM digitization of health centers, based on all currently available information and standardizing its parameterization from the outset through a BIM Execution Plan (BEP). This standardization will take into account the actual BIM uses and the BIM model's integration into the project's design and construction phases. “>BIM Execution Plan (BEP). This standardization will take into account the real and practical BIM uses that the healthcare administration needs, beyond the generic uses that are usually included in tender specifications.

Technical analysis and diagnosis of pathologies

At each health center, a specialized technical team will carry out a detailed analysis of the building, focusing particularly on identifying structural defects. These pathologies will also be reflected in the BIM models, providing a comprehensive and up-to-date technical overview of the condition of each infrastructure.

The creation of these models will be carried out using a hybrid CAD to BIM and SCAN to BIM methodology reinforced with automation processes for digitization, both for the creation of the models and for the creation of the documentation. Organization and future maintenance of models

The CDE of VIRCORE will be configured in a standardized manner for all healthcare centers, including:

      • Spaces differentiated by location
      • Standard folder structures
      • Version control systems
      • Defined nomenclatures and protocols
      • Workflows, metadata, etc.

The ultimate goal is to have a single, centralized digital model for each health center, which will serve as the basis for future actions. These models will evolve into AIM (Asset Information Models), allowing them to be connected to operating and maintenance systems and ensuring that they are continuously updated as modifications or improvements are made to the buildings. This will provide an operational digital twin.

This project marks a firm step towards the digital transformation of the Cantabrian healthcare system, improving infrastructure management efficiency, avoiding information silos, and laying the foundations for comprehensive data-driven asset management in the digital twin.

In this vein, INGECID has been actively working in the sector for years in various lines of business, where it has already developed a comprehensive platform for hospital management using BIM, which serves as a technological and methodological reference for this type of initiative, integrating digitization, IoT, AI, maintenance, and analysis of healthcare infrastructure in a single environment where BIM methodology is part of the process.
