IFMIF DONES

At INGECID, we led the development of a digital transformation strategy for the international scientific project IFMIF-DONES, a cornerstone for the advancement of nuclear fusion in Europe. Our work focused on defining and promoting integrated information and data management throughout the project lifecycle, applying BIM methodologies aligned with ISO 19650 and planning for the future implementation of a PLM tool.

The project included analyzing the current state of processes, standards, technologies, data, roles, and training, as well as defining the target state and developing the BIM strategy, naming conventions, standardization strategies, classification systems, and planning a common data environment (PLM-CDE) leveraging tools such as VIRCORE and others. These platforms enable centralized data management, full asset traceability, automated deliverable generation, and integration of BIM models with external systems. They also facilitate early-stage decision-making, construction simulations, interference analysis, and the use of virtual reality for training and safety.

This project is a prime example of digital transformation applied to highly complex scientific infrastructure, positioning INGECID as a leader in the digitalization of strategic technological facilities.
