As part of the decommissioning process of the Santa María de Garoña Nuclear Power Plant, INGECID executed a comprehensive project focused on developing the digital model and its associated database. The work included extensive CAD-to-BIM and SCAN-to-BIM activities, with automation tools created to streamline tasks, audits, and quality controls, as well as a full plant scan, all aimed at capturing the current state and ensuring the accuracy of both the 3D model and the asset data.
Based on this information, the asset database was updated and mapped to the BIM models, and existing information systems were synchronized and integrated with the VIRCORE platform. This optimized the management of assets and technical information, ensuring traceability and continuity of data throughout the facility’s lifecycle.
As part of the work, graphic documentation in audiovisual format, including technical videos, was produced to facilitate understanding of the facility and support future operations. Additionally, planning tasks were carried out to prepare for decommissioning activities, laying the foundation for a safe, efficient, and controlled project execution.
