INGECID participates in the Nuclear Engineering Summer Course of the University of Cantabria

12 July 2018

From 9 to 13 July 2018, the summer course on Nuclear Engineering is being held in the Salón de Grados of the Faculty of Law of the University of Cantabria, in Santander. This course is aimed at both university graduates and professionals linked to the sector.

The aim of the course is to promote knowledge, especially on the part of the academic world, of the problems and needs that arise in the activity of companies related to the nuclear industry so that, from this knowledge, proposals for collaboration can emerge.

Framed within the activities of the Nuclear Industry Cluster of Cantabria (CINC) and the UC-Empresas forum of the University of Cantabria, its objective is the interaction between professionals of the sector and the presentation of the activities of the nuclear industry to the members of the academic community.

At INGECID we believe that training is the basis for success, so our professionals have presented a total of three presentations on the different needs and solutions we have been working on within the nuclear energy sector. The INGECID presentations were held on Wednesday 11th July in the following order and timetable.

On the one hand, from 9:30 to 10:30, the work developed on the use of the NPIM methodology in nuclear power plant decommissioning processes was presented. This methodology, based on BIM methodology, uses parameterised 3D models with information to facilitate each of the activities involved in the decommissioning process of a nuclear power plant.

On the other hand, from 12:00 to 13:00, the work carried out during the development of the Auxiliary Shielding Module (ABM) for spent fuel containers in nuclear power plants was presented.

Finally, from 17:30 to 18:30, a presentation was given on the work carried out on the calculation of dose due to spent fuel casks and radiological impact in Individualised Temporary Storage (ATI).
