\/<\/span><\/strong> Tackling complex challenges<\/p>\n<\/div> At INGECID, we specialize in the design and analysis of structures, including systems and components, covering the entire process from preliminary or conceptual design and alternative analysis, to detailed design and manufacturing or construction documentation for structures, systems, and components in the nuclear, wind, civil, or industrial sectors.<\/p>\n We possess the experience and capabilities to perform advanced analyses using specialized software applications, in accordance with various national and international regulations.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div> \/ Our Structural Design and Analysis services<\/span> At INGECID, we design various structures, systems, and components with a team highly experienced in advanced finite element simulations and the application of different national and international codes or standards, depending on the project. The results of specific analyses (geotechnical, seismic, or thermal, among others) are integrated into a single structural design, optimizing all involved aspects thanks to our multidisciplinary and versatile team, adapting to the different requirements and specificities of each client. Our designs cover a wide range of solutions such as pressure vessels (heaters, exchangers\u2026), tooling or auxiliary elements for heavy load handling, spent fuel or radioactive waste storage and\/or transport systems, foundations or towers for wind turbines, and building construction, among others.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div> We perform seismic analyses, including the determination of dynamic soil properties using software codes such as SHAKE or P-CARES, as well as advanced modeling with LS-DYNA or SASSI, considering soil-structure interaction to obtain forces due to seismic action. These detailed analyses are often required in the nuclear field, where we have extensive experience.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div> We perform thermal simulations and analyses using finite elements (FEA) or computational fluid dynamics (CFD) depending on project needs. We obtain temperature distributions and thermal loads for sizing different components or structures, especially in the nuclear field.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div> We perform advanced dynamic calculations with LS-DYNA to simulate impacts mainly due to accidental situations, such as ship impacts on offshore<\/em> wind turbine jacket foundations or drop accidents during the storage or transport of spent nuclear fuel containers.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div> We conduct civil works inspections for in-service structures such as concrete and steel foundations or structures, including evaluating their condition and determining the necessary rehabilitation actions if required.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div> We design innovative solutions for the storage or transport of spent fuel or other radioactive waste. The design is carried out through the collaboration of a multidisciplinary team to analyze the problem and provide new tailor-made solutions, even leading to the generation of different patents. From a structural analysis perspective, this includes impact simulations due to drop accidents or structural evaluation considering acting loads such as thermal actions or seismic accidents during storage.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div> \/ Discover our projects<\/span> ESKOM awarded the KCC consortium (Koeberg Civils Consortium), formed by INGECID’s South African subsidiary and local contractor WBHO Construction, the EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction<\/i>) contract for the design and construction of a new spent fuel container storage facility at the Koeberg Nuclear Power Plant.<\/span><\/p>\n MORE INFORMATION<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div> The Nuclear Safety Council (CSN) favorably reported on the authorization request for the execution and assembly of the Individualized Temporary Storage (ATI) facility at the Vandell\u00f2s II Nuclear Power Plant in Tarragona. This authorization allows for the initiation of excavations and the construction of the necessary structures for the new dry storage facility, located within the plant’s protected area and with capacity to house up to 73 HI-STORM FW model containers, currently undergoing licensing. The commissioning of the ATI is essential, as Vandell\u00f2s II’s fuel pool will reach its maximum capacity during the refueling scheduled for April 2027.<\/span><\/p>\n MORE INFORMATION<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div> This contract included the design and calculation of several railway structures: Murtal Viaduct, Embankment Reinforcement by Piled Foundation, Mascarat Road Overpass, Torres River Viaduct, and a service road overpass structure. Calculations and sizing of the different structural elements were performed, as well as the preparation of plans, measurements, budget, and PPTP for each of the designed structures.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div> INGECID carried out the design of the piled foundations for NABRAWIND TECHNOLOGIES’ NABRALIFT tower, built in Morocco. This tower, with a hub height of 144 meters and equipped with a 3.6 MW wind turbine, became the tallest on the African continent. <\/p>\n MORE INFORMATION<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div> At INGECID, we participated in the expansion and remodeling of the Muskiz Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP). These works were awarded by the Bilbao Bizkaia Water Consortium (CABB) to ACCIONA to include a new biological treatment system, a new pretreatment, a tertiary treatment with filtration and disinfection, a stormwater treatment, and a sludge disposal, dehydration, and storage facility. INGECID supports ACCIONA in performing the structural calculations and design of the new structures.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div> ENRESA has awarded INGECID the contract \u201cType B packaging design service for the transport of radioactive material\u201d<\/i>, following a tender process in which the company submitted the best technical-economic offer according to the weighting of the established criteria. This project strengthens INGECID’s collaboration with ENRESA in the field of nuclear engineering and the safe management of radioactive material transport.<\/span><\/p>\n MORE INFORMATION<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div> INGECID has supervised the characterization work of structures and outdoor areas at the Santa Mar\u00eda de Garo\u00f1a nuclear power plant. These activities include sampling various surfaces and areas\u2014soil, smears, water, scarifications, among others\u2014for laboratory analysis, as well as on-site measurements of surface contamination, gamma spectrometry, and radiological surveys.
